Why not brew up a nice English Brown ale for the summer months. This was one of the monthly kits I receive as being a Patreon member<\/a>. Haven’t had the chance to brew it but finally getting around to it. The night before I gathered the RO water and also milled up the grains. Got the system all setup for a nice 6:00 brew day. I love the early morning brew days. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

@5:54 the water was up to 149F(65C) and added in the grains and let the Anvil go up to the 152F(66.6C) and @5:56 started the mash timer as all the grains were added and pump turned on. Within a few minutes was up to the 152F(66.6C). With 30 minutes left in the mash I stopped the pump and gave the grain bed a good stir to ensure I get the best efficiency I can pull. With about 10 minutes left in the mash I started to perform a mash out of 168FF(75.5C). @7:00 hit 168F(75.5C) and let it sit for a few more minutes before pulling the grain basket. Turned the Anvil up to a full boil while draining off the wort. @7:23 hit 180F(82.2C) and pulled the grain basket and cleaned up what I could. Pulled a gravity reading of 1.038SG. @7:42 hit 200F(93.3C) and pulled my typical 2 cups(~500mL) of hot break off the top. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

@7:54 hit 212F(100C) and added in the first addition. Not much additions on this one so prepared the fermentor and just awaited till there was 10 minutes left in the boil and added in the Irish Moss and Yeast nutrient and the last of the hop addition at flame out. @8:54 pulled a gravity of 1.041 started to chill down. @9:02 it was down to 110F(43.3C). @9:20 was down to 77F(25C) and transferred over to the fermentor and pitched the yeast @9:28 and @9:35 finished clean up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

@6:45 on 7-8-2024 I took a gravity reading of 1.008 SG and placed the fermenter back in the chest freezer and started to chill it down. Ill step it down over the next few days before transferring to a keg. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

@06:31 on July 14th I finally got around to transferring over to a keg after a week of back pain. Cleaned up and put the keg in my refrigerator to carbonate up. I did pull a sample and getting a fruity\/apple flavor. Lets see how it is when its carbonated up. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
