I have been super busy lately and haven’t been able to brew. So I have decided to try and squeeze in a brew day after work. The night before I collected the required water and also milled the grains required for the brew day. Added in the salts and going to setup the timer in the AM to be ready for 15:00.
@15:10 I started to mash timer after doughing in. With about 2 minutes left in the mash I stopped the pump and gave the grain bed a good stir. With about 8.5 mins left in the mash I turned the Anvil up to 168F(75.5C) to mash out. @16:15 hit the 168F(75.5C), waited 5 mins and pulled the basket. After a while of draining gave it a good tilt to let it drain out some more. Pulled basket and cleaned. Got about 6.8G(25.7L) of wort and a gravity of 1.051SG. @16:50 hit 200F(93.3C) and pulled the 2 cups(500mL) of hot break and awaited the boil.
@17:13 hit 212F(100C) and love these styles no adds till 20 mins left. Added the hops as per the schedule and added in the wort chiller with 15 mins left in the boil. @18:43 started the wort chiller. Pulled a wort sample and read a gravity of 1.057SG, forgot to take a photo. @18:57 hit 110F(43.3C). @19:18 pitched the yeast .
@18:45 on June 17 I finally got around to checking the brew and had a 1.008SG and tossed in the hops. Placed the fermentor in my chamber and will slowly bring down the temperature.
@6:15 on June 24th transferred over to a keg and placed in the refrigerator to carbonate up. Very flavorful can’t wait for this one to be on tap.
