Marris Otter Citra Test Batch 11-30-25 Brewday

Continuing to play with Marris Otter, I like the grain and trying it with different things. Plus make a great light beer with just it self. I love Citra so going to hit it hard with some cryo dry hop as well. Milled the grains and gathered the water. Added in the salt and setup to start early morning so when I wake up the water will be ready.

@05:47 I started the mash. With about 30 minutes into the mash I stopped the pump and gave the grain bed a really good stir and started the pump again to finish up the mashing. With about 4 minutes left in the mash I turned the Anvil up to 168F(75.5C) to mash out. After about 10 minutes at the 168F(75.5C) I pulled the grains and let them drip for a little bit. Took a gravity reading of 1.040SG.

@07:23 the boil started. Not much to do until about 30 minutes into the boil for the first hop addition. Since Citra is somewhat high on Alpha acids I didn’t want too much of a bitter beer but I wanted some. Knowing I pick some up at the end and it doesn’t calculate I think I should be good. Tossed in the flame out addition and pulled a wort sample of 1.045sg. @08:28 wort was down to 123F(50.5C). @08:32 was down to 86F(30C). @08:35 was down to 75F(24C). Transferred over to my fermentor and placed in my keezer at 58F(14.4C). cleaned up and all done by 08:50.

@19:05 on December 3rd I took a sample of 1.012SF and decided to dry hop.

@11:30 on December 6th I got a sample of 1.008SG and decided to place in a keg. Cleaned and sanitized the keg, flushed it with CO2 and drained the beer into the keg to sealed up. Flushed out the head space and placed in the refrigerator to carbonate and chill out. Took a sample and very tasty.
