HBR – Lord of the ESB’s

So I don’t do this a lot and need to start more of, is reviewing my beers. I don’t have the vocabulary to discuss beers and the complex flavors but again I keep saying this, I need to jump in and just start and as I do more and more, I hope to have a better vocabulary for what I’m experiencing.

So to check out the brew day for this one click here.

Appearance: It has a nice off white head that is sticking around, Crystal clear. Has a light copper color heading toward golden under certain light. The head is sticking around with some nice lacing as well. I definitely have more carbonation then required in this style but that is what is nice wait and let it warm up a bit and also swirl it to drop the carbonation.

Aroma: I don’t get much of the noise and I typically don’t unless they are stock smells.

Taste/Mouthfeel: There is this bitterness that seems to follow the drying of my mouth which is making me want to sip more. Guess that is a good think. The bitter isn’t off putting to me. There is an initial malty flavor, quickly overcome by the bitterness. Overall the beer is pretty light on the mouthfeel. Now as it warms up and carbonation is dropped it changes The bitterness is still there but its more subdued and there is this slight fruitiness i’m picking up right as your sipping it.

Overall Impression: I do like this beer and could drink a bunch of this. The problem is it comes in at 5.78% so not too many of these. Now I do prefer after it warms up and a little less carbonation. I will try next time try to knock the ABV down a bit. If I can get this under 5% with all that is going on here it will be a decent beer. Now does it hit style?, Id say yes based off what I read in the 2015 BJCP guidelines.
